Today I woke up and knew the Lord had given me a good day! As I walked into church, I immediately noticed the talking, rejoicing, laughing and smiling that was in the room- the atmosphere was immediately hair-raising ! Along with the powerful worship songs, the message Sunday was the beginning of a new series called "Rise Up" with the scripture focus on Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (NIV, Italics mine)
As Pastor Dylan began, he expressed the idea we were not made to survive, but rather to thrive. God has a specific plan for each one of us with an unending room for growth. It is time to RISE UP and embrace His plan. However, before rising up, sometimes we have to get down. God sets us apart, just as he states in Jeremiah Chapter 1. We have seasons in our lives where the feelings of being forgotten, unused, and unappreciated come to mind. These feelings provide us with the persevering spirit He is growing within us. We then must choose to rise up, embrace it, and walk with Him- or be apart of the material world.
Pastor Dylan passionately stated “Before you were successful (whatever that word may mean to you individually), God knew you.” This means God loves and cherishes us before “success” and continues to do so daily! How amazing is that? The true feat is my life will never be lived to the fullest until I have surrendered to Jesus Christ. He doesn’t see what I see. He is able to be omnisciently looking at my life without focusing on what I say, do, or look like, but see me as I am. Knowing this allows for the opportunity to RISE UP, surrender my life, and embrace His plan by acknowledging my flaws and excuses that get in the way such as: I’m too young, I’m too inexperienced, I’m too busy, etc. I will then tell God I will go where He needs me to go, say what He needs me to say, and do what He needs me to do.
Life isn't about me. It’s about the Kingdom of God. I need to live a life of faithfulness and servitude, just like Jeremiah. I know God is not finished with me, nor is he finished with anyone. I know He is continually in the process of guiding us. As we RISE UP, surrender, and embrace His plan, we also need to find the contentment - the feeling of peace that washes over us as we endure the love of Jesus Christ in our hearts.
Anyone has the power to RISE UP! God will never be finished with me so I will seek to continue to grow in God's presence.
