Bottom of the ninth is approaching. They’re stepping up to the plate. Smooth hit as the ball FLIES out of the park! They’re sprinting to first, there they go scrambling to second, come on! Get around to third- come on, come on and it is a HOME RUN! SCORE!!

This feeling, the feeling of accomplishment by following the game plan and succeeding is one of the most powerful states of mind. Through this Bible study, Home Run Life, we’ve run across the bases: Connecting with God, Character within, community with others, competence to win results, and have strived for the home run in our connection and relationship to God. Pastor Selena reminded us today we can achieve that feeling by being living sacrifices; and during this game plan called life, “seldom does one run win the game, we are running every day.”

Today’s focus was, “If we are going to score at what matters in life we must be compelled by God’s love, convinced of eternal life, and committed to God’s game plan.” Romans 12:1-2, our key verse for the series has hit for the cycle, or in others words has related to getting past every base. If we truly want to score at what matters we must not conform to the patterns of the world. Within this world we want so badly to matter and we categorize people and sins. Yet if we live as a living sacrifice and glorify our one true savior, He will transform us and reveal His will for us: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

Letting love be our highest and greatest goal is what allows us to be compelled by God’s love: 1 Corinthians 14:1. 1 John 2:15-16 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Understanding what love is and what love can be is a part of the sprint from third to home. Pastor Selena asked us, “Are you convinced you are living your life for eternity?” Another short sprint on the way to third is if we are called to be living sacrifices to God and trusting in His promise of eternal life. We need to be committed to God’s game plan. 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, we are Christ’s ambassadors- He makes His appeal through us. There is no time to get comfortable and live life by worldly patterns.

Running the bases and gaining that feeling of triumph through the challenges and obstacles establishes that deep interpersonal connection with God. By being a living sacrifice, compelled by His love, convinced of eternity, and committed to His plan, we can win the HOME RUN!
